It is becoming increasingly critical for administrators of large AGOL organizations to be able to programmatically clean and manage items owned by their users. One potential solution is to require users to create basic metadata for their items, with classifications that can be tailored to the nature and needs of the organization.
For example, a university organization might define the following required categories: academic, research, grant-related, and personal.
Administrators could enable this classification requirement at the organizational level, forcing all users to assign a category to each item they create. Once implemented, administrators could periodically review and programmatically delete items in specific categories (such as personal or academic) after a defined time period, helping keep the organization clean, compliant, and sustainable.
