When uploading a zip-file onto ArcGIS Online, the user is requested to specify the “File type” (of the contents) of the zip-file to be uploaded. There exists no option to upload a Zip-file containing non-spatial documents (e.g. help documents, Information sheets, etc.).

The "File Type" drop-down box currently allows the user to choose one of the following options:
- Shapefile
- File Geodatabase
- Photos with locations
- Deep learning package
- Map template
- CAD drawing
- CSV collection
- KML collection
- Desktop application template
- Geoprocessing sample
- Code sample
- ArcPad package
- AppBuilder widget package
- Image collection
- GML
- Application
All of the current options assume that the user is uploading spatial data of some sort that needs to be converted/published/manipulated by ArcGIS Online to be useful.
The problem is that we sometimes want to group many related non-spatial files together as one item, e.g. A Word document, a text file, a couple of PDFs, etc. into one Zip-file and then load that zip-file as e.g. “Document collection” type to ArcGIS Online and make it available for download via our ArcGIS Hub Site (Open Data Portal).
A hypothetical example: An item on ArcGIS Online named “Winter Electricity consumption for Main campus” with a zip-file containing a PDF with the report, a PDF with criteria and SOP, text files with raw values (One for each month), a Word document with further details, etc. All of these documents pertain to one event (item) and need to be grouped together and used together.
