Help with general notebook question

I am new to notebooks and am playing around with some of the sample notebooks I found.  However i can't seem to display thumbnails or images within my notebooks.  Am I doing something wrong?  I am using Pro 3.2.0 and my active portal is Enterprise 11.1

This is kind of what I was expecting...something like this....
