I can create a mobile map package in Pro and share it to my portal but when I try to connect Navigator app on my iOS phone to Portal, get the error above.  I could not get navigator registered in portal admin due to myesri site not having the correct drop down choices as directions indicated.  Any info is greatly appreciated

Hi Joshua,

Seems you've got a couple of things going on

1. You cannot sign into your portal, as you get the "

Unable to connect to Portal.  Data couldn't be read because it isn't in correct format" error

2. You can't provision Navigator licenses as you were unsuccessful in getting access to this via MyEsri?

I can answer question #1, and for Question #2 I'll get ssandusky-esristaff to reply to this aspect.

For issue 1. I have seen this (unhelpful) error if the Portal URL that i type in contains the correct url to the portal, but the name of the Portal Instance...i.e. the bit after the "/" is incorrect.

So - Can you double check that the Portal URL that you are using is correct, specifically the tail end of the URL , after the last "/" ?

For Example:

Correct URL:      https://myPortalBox.ags.esri.com/portal
URL that Errors: https://myPortalBox.ags.esri.com/portalD -- Notice the name after the "/" is wrong

NOTE - however, that if you are attempting to sign into Navigator with a user that doesn't have a Navigator license provisioned, you will get an error saying that you need a Navigator license.

ssandusky-esristaff‌ can you help Joshua in the MyESRI aspect?

Hope this helps.

Heather

Joshua, I forgot to mention i do have an issue in to report a better error message for this case, so hopefully we'll get that in there soon.

Hi Heather,

Yeah I definitely made sure the URL is exactly right, I've tried it about 20 times to this point and I've put that same URL into Collector a bunch (https://servername.domain.com/arcgis443) and ArcGIS 443 is the Portal web adaptor.  Because of the special certificates involved we mask the servername with a more user friendly word appended by our domain and .com.  But as I keep getting the error, I even tried https:// appended by our actual servername.domain.com/arcgis443 but still same unhelpful error.  Thoughts?

I'll get some others involved and see what we have for ideas.

So just to confirm, if you put https://servername.domain.com/arcgis443/home/ into your Browser, that this takes you to your Portal Home page?

Yes, so to test that I opened safari on my iphone and put that URL in (https://servername.domain.com/arcgis443) and was then asked to provide login credentials and then I could see my portals homepage.

Joshua, are you able to tell me more about how the portal security is set up? is it IWA? PKI? SAML? Kerberos? Built-in?

Could you share screenshots of how the Sign in process compares in Navigator vs Collector? Take shot of each screen (and hide any sensitive info of course) - it might help us understand what you are seeing?

Hi Heather,

I did originally have IWA setup with a federated server but because Survey123 doesn't currently work with it, etc, I opted to go the built-in user route.  So for Collector, I created built-in users in ArcGIS Server and secured a feature service that I published in Portal as a Web Map.  Collector then just has me sign into Portal using a Portal assigned user account and then sign into the feature service using the ArcGIS Server built-in account.  I can then leave the app running in the background for days and submit changes without having to log in again.

For Navigator, it only recognizes ArcGIS Online as I believe I only have Navigator licensed with AGSO so far.

Hi Josh,

For getting you access to the Navigator maps within MyEsri (so that you can register them with your Portal) - we just need to get your user access to your license.  They you'll be able to see and download them in MyEsri.  Can you please email me at ssandusky@esri.com so that i can coordinate this with our Customer Service team?

thanks, Scott
