This blog discusses how to configure dataview expressions and charts in ArcGIS Monitor that show enterprise geodatabase metrics. The analysis elements discussed are:

  1. Number of connections to the eGDB
  2. Connections to the eGDB over time
  3. Number of versions in the eGDB
  4. Number of version states in the eGDB
  5. Number of state lineages in the eGDB

Configuring these analysis elements for your registered enterprise geodatabases can provide insights on their activity and usage in ArcGIS Monitor.

I am not seeing any of the GDB_* metrics available in Monitor (2024.1.1) instance.  I'm running the latest Monitor agent on the database machine. Does the geodatabase need to be a certain version for these to be available?

Hi @ChaseBarnard,

I am not seeing any of the GDB_* metrics available in Monitor (2024.1.1) instance.  I'm running the latest Monitor agent on the database machine.

I am not seeing this behavior. Sorry. Please open an issue with Esri Tech Support so they can help investigate further.

Does the geodatabase need to be a certain version for these to be available?

Not that I am aware of. Please check the ArcGIS Monitor product life cycle document to ensure your geodatabase is part of the supported ArcGIS Enterprise releases.

Hope this helps,

Hi @DerekLaw

I have registered the SQL server database in ArcGIS Monitor 2023.3.1 and looked into Preparation section of the document ArcGIS Monitor: Analysis Elements for Enterprise Geodatabases.

However it is registered as TypeDatabase and Subtype: SQL Server, can't see any geodatabase subtype. Just wondering how can I separate them as database and geodatabase. Is there any separate workflow to register the database as Geodatabase, please.

Please note the SQL Server database is in Azure SQL Server.

Hi @ZahidMia,

However it is registered as Type: Database and Subtype: SQL Server, can't see any geodatabase subtype.

Are you sure the SQL Server database you registered with ArcGIS Monitor is an enterprise geodatabase? This indicates that Monitor is not seeing the geodatabase repository tables that should be in the SQL Server database.

Is there any separate workflow to register the database as Geodatabase

No, registering a database or enterprise geodatabase with Monitor is the same. And Monitor will detect which type it is.

Please contact Esri Tech Support and ask them to help you investigate further if you're certain the SQL Server database is an enterprise geodatabase.

Hope this helps,
