This release is a stability release with support for recently released version of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. It also includes quality, accessibility and usability fixes for issues reported by customers like you. We encourage you to download and install this update to continue your work with Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud. Below are highlights about what’s included in this update.

Compatibility with latest version of Adobe apps

In October 2021, Adobe released new version updates to its popular graphic design apps – Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud v 3.1 includes support for Illustrator v26 and Photoshop v23. Note: The previous Illustrator version v25.4.1 is not supported on macOS. Its best practice to update Adobe apps first and then download and install the extension update. For more information see supported software.

Accessibility improvements

As a part of an initiative to make the extension inclusive and accessible to all, this release includes updates to user interface and keyboard actions for the Sign-in and the analysis tools experiences.

Improved UI alerts, control highlights using accessible colors and icons.

Other improvements and key issues addressed include,

  • Preview privacy policy before signing into the extension.
  • Maximize results of Add content search capability to show all relevant content by default. Results can be further filtered by current map area, if needed.
  • Legacy mapping profile unexpectedly disabled in the settings window.
  • Error when abbreviated State Name is used when signing up for Plus.
  • Clippath missing when new content is synced to a previously synced mapboard.

We encourage you to install this patch to take advantage of these updates.

After installing the new v3.1 update - when trying to download a map we get an error saying the .aix file cannot be opened. If we use the legacy profile the map download will work. Any idea as to why this would happen?

Hello @Brianna_Eaton

Could you please provide some details about your environment?

- Windows or macOS

- The versions of Illustrator

If you install Adobe Illustrator after Maps for Adobe 3.1 installation, it could be a problem. One thing you can try is to uninstall and reinstall Maps for Adobe 3.1.

Please let us know if the approach works or not.

@XingdongZhang

We are on MacOS - Monterey & Big Sur [2 Different machines]

V26 of Illustrator on both machines.

We installed the Adobe update prior to the Maps for Adobe 3.1 install per the guide:

New update v 3.1 just released .. support Illustrator v26 and more

Thank you for looking into this. We did try to uninstall/re-install Maps for Adobe 3.1 without any improvement.

The problem is the M1 chip. It is not supported.

Update: Uninstalled and re-installed Illustrator and the extension again, on all affected machines and everything appears to working correctly now after 3 days.

[We are not on the M1 chip as @JohnD_CLN  referenced above.]

Thanks Esri!

Hi there,

I noticed that the latest Adobe Illustrator version 26.3 is not compatible with the latest Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud v 3.1.

Is there an updated expected soon?

Thank you.

Yes, what @Anonymous User  said - my company auto-updates our Adobe applications, and with the 26.3.1 update to Illustrator, I get a plug-in error upon loading AI, and can no longer sync/download any maps using the extension. It goes through the entire "download" countdown process, then gives me an "AIX file" error. This is HUGELY problematic.

(and yes, I have Illustrator opening using Rosetta, since the M1 chip issue still hasn't been fixed.)

Thank you for reporting the issues. I am sorry for the inconvenience. We have been able to reproduce the error in house. This is on the top of our priority list and the development team is currently investigating the cause of the problem. We will have more information to share later.
