When will the NOAA Coral Bleaching Alert Level and SSTA layers be finalised?

We are currently preparing for the upcoming summer period and hoping to use the 5km Coral Bleaching Alert Level and SSTA ArcGIS layers which are updated daily.

I can see that these layers are still in the beta phase and was wondering if anyone knows when these layers are expected to be finalised. I also note that the layer will be updated daily however, the most recent data only extends to the 16/11/2025. Is this a potential bug?

Hi Isabel,
The layers are listed as Beta since they're using a new technology that occasionally has update issues due to the long timeseries. We are working to stabilize them. If you need more timely data, I'd suggest using the CRW Virtual Stations that are a summary of this data. Note that NOAA's processing of the data is lagging ~2 days.

We also have a "Most Recent" version of SST and SSTA available in Living Atlas

Thanks for that information Dan! The CRW Virtual Stations layer would have been great but it doesn’t seem to have the resolution that we are after. We are specifically looking at areas within the GBR so need a 5km resolution. I can see that that layer is derived from a 5km resolution but it doesn’t specify what it actually is. I will have a look at the other SST layers.

Thank you!
