I have an Instant App that uses the Nearby template. Ideally, when a user inputs an address into the search bar and selects an option from the Locator dropdown, the map would zoom to that location, but this does not happen. It pans accurately but remains at the default scale. It will zoom if I go back into the search bar and hit Enter, but I don't see why that extra step is necessary. What am I missing?
(If you're testing it out but don't know any addresses in the state, try 201 W Preston St.)

This sounds like an issue we already have reported and we have an update for this going into the next release of ArcGIS Online.
I have not use the nearby app, but in the apps I have tried you can customize some search settings. Turn off express mode and go to interactivity>Search. Select the ellipsis beside your geocoding source and then expand additional search options. This should show a scale bar to you can set to your desired scale. It may look a bit different for your app but from my experience there is some sort of function like this. Hope that helps!
Thank you for this suggestion, @SarahShermack . I followed your instructions. The zoom scale was set to Streets by default. I changed it a few times to City, Town, etc., but still the map wouldn't zoom upon searching. Thanks anyway!
