In the Portfolio Instant App, when you create a web map section, the app will display a link to the web map in the description ("Open in Map Viewer"), as well as displaying any Terms of Use attached to your web map below the link.
The only way to hide these is by hiding the entire Description for the section, which is not ideal.
I want to add descriptive text to the Description section, and as it happens, I want to include a link to an app (WAB) showcasing the web map. Having a link directly to the web map in the Map Viewer is just going to confuse end users and redirect traffic away from the app, where I want people to go.
I don't actually mind having the Terms of Use shown, but it would be nice to have options to hide both of these elements, so that the live app reflects what you have configured in the Description.
Hi @AMercer,
Thanks for using the Portfolio app! The team has discussed this request and there will be updates in the November 2022 ArcGIS Online update that will allow you to toggle the 'Map Viewer' link and 'Terms of use' in the section descriptions.
Thank you,
Ryan
Hi @AMercer,
This option is now available in the Portfolio app. In the section info configuration there is now an option to toggle off the Open in Map Viewer link and the Terms of Use description.
Thanks!
Sarah
Hi @SarahMcDonald_Esri and @AMercer,
I came here with this same question but I don't see an option to toggle off the Open in Map Viewer link. I see where I can toggle on and off 'Open description panel at start' but not where I can dictate what is in this description panel.
I'm using Portal though so maybe this functionality isn't available yet?
Thanks for your insights!
Amy
Hi @AmyHut , I'm using ArcGIS Online so I'm not sure about Portal. Hopefully someone else can chime in on any differences in Portal.
In AGOL, to turn on/off the "Open in Map Viewer link" and "Terms of Use", you'll need to go into the Portfolio section (or Step 1 in Express mode); when you add a new section you should see those options. Or if you've already added sections, click the 3 dots on the section you want to edit, click Edit, and scroll down to see those toggles. This is also where you can edit the description ("Edit description" just above the toggles).
The "Open in Map Viewer link" will not show up if your section/item is not a map (e.g. if it's another app).
