I'm experiencing a progressive rendering issue with the display of my features (ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5). When the map loads, polylines initially appear blurry/pixelated for a few seconds before becoming sharp and precise (refer to library images below...).
The data is published as a Web Map (refer to settings images below...) from ArcGIS Pro 3.5.2 with simple line symbology, and this behavior occurs across different web clients.
How can I configure the service to display linear features at full quality immediately without this initial low-resolution phase? Any suggestions for optimizing the rendering settings would be appreciated.
Many thanks

Hey @GeoMartino
This may be simply due to the Map Server not being able to render the map as quickly, this could be either due to the large amount of polylines or similar on the map, or the server not being able to catchup. Do you notice any errors in the Server or Portal when this is happening?
Can you repeat this with a smaller set of data and see if it does the same?

Hey @CodyPatterson ,
Thanks for the suggestion and the quick reply!
As you proposed, I tested with just a few elements and I'm getting essentially the same behavior, but the refresh happens faster.
I'm puzzled as to why the Map Server isn't performing well - this is a brand new ArcGIS Enterprise installation with nothing on it except my small Indoors project (I'm currently the only user). I would have expected better performance given the light workload.
No errors showing up in the Server or Portal logs during this behavior.
Any other ideas what might be causing this rendering delay?
Hey @GeoMartino
A new GIS environment being slow is kinda odd, what kind of hardware or resources do you have in your server? I wouldn't expect there to be any errors in the Server or Portal only because it's more than likely a rendering thing rather than an error.

I have a basic Enterprise deployment across 3 VMs (Portal, Server, and DataStore). All three are identical machines with the following specs:
Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 6348 CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2.59 GHz (4 processors)
32GB RAM
4Gb/s network speed
Windows Server 2025 64-bit
The hardware should definitely be sufficient for my current light workload. Any thoughts on what might be causing the performance issues with these specs?
Hello @CodyPatterson, thanks for responding. The info provided was useful to me.
Hello @GeoMartino, since you are on Enterprise, and it is a new environment, and you already have a multi-machine deployment, I can ask a few different set of questions to help you out.
- Unrelated to Indoors Viewer, may I know how the web map renders when simply opened in Map Viewer? This will help isolate the issue if it is related to Indoors Viewer (which is less likely given your enviornment but let's not rule it out).
- Have you shared your layers as Map Image layers (instead of Feature Layers) and are they included in the web map used in Indoors Viewer?
- Is Editing enabled on the Feaure layers? Indoors VIewer doesn't require editable feature services (there are some exceptions like, workspace reservations)
