Hosted non spatial data service

I have a tabular data set that I would like to host on ESRI's Hub cloud as a service.

I know I can add it as a file from my computer.  But the problem with that is to update it, the Hosted Table needs to be deleted and re added.  This also deletes it's 'landing page' (thumbnail, description, summary, etc.)

If I could host it as a service, I can use python to update the service and don't lose any of the landing page.  And I can automate and schedule it.

ArcMap will not let you publish an .mxd as a service if it only has a table in it (option is greyed out).  Even if that table is in a .gdb.  Apparently the .mxd must have spatial data in it.

Any thoughts?

You can choose to overwrite a service when publishing from ArcMap.

You must add a feature class to a map to publish a table.

Thanks Paul.  I know you can overwrite.  I'm publishing other services and overwriting using python code.  The problem is not being able to publish straight table data and NOT having a feature service with it.
