A new item created from a URL will not load in ArcGIS Hub's Gallery or Iframe layout

I created a new item in ArcGIS Online and chose the "Web Mapping" option, since the "Other Application" option has no URL field, which I suspect is a bug. I entered the URL to a publicly shared Tableau dashboard, populated the metadata and saved with no issue. When I click on the new items URL, there is a warning that you are leaving ArcGIS Online, and then the web page opens. I would like to display a non-ESRI application (Tableau) on my department's Hub site, and when I attempt to add this new item created from a URL in Gallery or Iframe, the page does not load and I receive this message: "public.tableau.com refused to connect." If anyone has any information on a workaround or solution, please let me know.

Hi @ScottHansen__MDP_ - I imagine if you looked at the Console tab in your browser's developer tools you'd see x-frame errors. This normally occurs if the embedded domain does not allow itself to be embedded. You can confirm this by attempting to embed the Tableau dashboard using the same URL outside of Hub. You may want investigate if Tableau has a specific embed URL they prefer you use.

Hello,

I appreciate the response. I do not fully understand what is going on, but when I contacted ESRI Technical Support last week, they tried embedding the Tableau dashboard in a simple HTML page, but encountered the same error: “public.tableau.com refused to connect.” I was told that since this issue also occurs outside of any Esri application, it appears to be related to Tableau’s settings rather than ESRI's environment. Do you happen to know whether ESRI Hub employs a same-origin security policy and if so, is there a setting that would allow a non-ESRI domain to open within Hub? As a workaround, I created a Storymap with a URL link to Tableau, but that seems unnecessary. Hopefully another user has attempted to link to a Tableau or other third party and may have a solution.
