Please add the ability for ArcGIS Online layers to be displayed as Hub content using their default symbology. Currently all hosted feature layers displayed in a Hub site's content is given a default blue symbology. Many GIS staff create default symbology for ArcGIS Online layers especially when for data that relies on some categorization to make sense. Of course someone can change that default after they add it to a map or download it, but often there is a common symbology for a layer that staff in an organization like to use as a "one size fits most" when adding data to applications. It would be helpful to have these datasets displayed to the public in the same way, rather than the symbology going back to generic colors. For some datasets this simple color scheme makes it hard to communicate the value of a particular dataset to the public when they first glance at the data from a Hub content explore page.
Folks,
This functionality should be implemented so long ago. I just found a post from 2021 where an enhancement request was logged (ENH-000099492: Open Data does not support feature layer symbology and every symbology appears in default blue color.) Still in 2024 and this idea is "Open"... come on guys. This must be implemented right away!

Highly agree this change is needed. Maintaining the default symbology for ArcGIS Online layers in Hub content enhances clarity and consistency in data presentation. Many organizations rely on specific color schemes to effectively communicate information, and reverting to generic colors can dilute the message. By allowing layers to retain their intended symbology, we can improve user understanding and engagement with the data, making it easier for the public to interpret important information at a glance.
People feel misled when the thumbnail shows the data with a specific symbology and then when they open it it's a mess of blue. This would help reduce confusion.
This issue was first widely complained about in 2021. It doesn't make sense that the default map viewer in a Hub Site does not apply the default symbology of the layer as hosted in AGOL. Is this still on the Hub Site roadmap? We find it a barrier to usefulness as an organization that relies on proper colors and symbols to communicate our data effectively.
