I just recieved my upgrade to arcMap10 and with it came the ArcGIS for windows Mobile 3.0. I was wondering is the ArcGIS server required to get the full usage of the software? Any suggested readings or answers would be appreciated.
Thanks'
Jason

No. You do not need ArcServer. You need to be able to create a mobile cache, which I am not sure what level of licensing is needed for that tools.

I have 5 Trimble Juno's. I create a mobile cache, open that in the Mobile Project Center. Create a mobile map and then copy it over manually to the Juno's. The workers take them out, collect/edit data, return them and then I synchronize the data. The only thing I am having problems with in 10.0 and 10.1 is that it is hard to develop aerial images that will deploy without being hooked up to server or arcgis online.
Good Luck.

Thank you. Sounds like a useful application. have you had any other issues with this product?

I have not had any other issues. And as a matter of fact, I have gotten the aerial base map to load. So at this point, all is good. The only thing I personally do not like about the ESRI aerial basemap is, how if you zoom in real close, it goes away. Small price to pay I guess.

I have a question regarding this issue. I am assuming you can have as many Mobile deployments as you want, correct?  I.E.  your 5 Juno units, it installs just fine on all.  Than, my next question is, you can create as many mobile caches as you want, right?

Sorry for the delay in responding to your message. I was able to install Mobile (using the cb file) to 10 Juno units. I created only one mobile cache and added it to each unit for simplicity. BUT in the past, I did create 10 different mobile caches. So the answers to your questions are yes and yes. (But i only did this with Junos that were not connected to Server, since we have no money to support the SIM cards.)

You can put your own standalone aerial basemaps in there along with editable data, just import the raster(s) into the file geodatabase alongside the editable data and load it into an mxd. then when you use the create mobile map tool, and select the mxd, it should appear as a layer to add.
