Issue: A MapCache will have a sync process fail due network, database, server issues that abort the sync.
The MapCache is left in a state where it thinks the collections and updates have been synd successfully as
indicated in the layer4_current_features table OBJECTID Feature State being a '1' or a '0' and the OBJECTID is
a negative number or has a 'real' number assigned which may be orphaned by the process failing.
Future attempts to sync 'thinks' that it was already successful and says that it is, but nothing is every uploaded
to the server, result is that the collections are visible on the device via the mapcache but not visible on the server
side because no sync/upload ever was completed.
There needs to be a tool box admin tool to repair the state of the mapcache for resubmitting, does this exist?
We have tried the VisualStudio solution for exporting and viewing the mapcache but it doe not allow edits
which would be complex.

Thanks

Hello Richard,

Are you familiar with the MobileCacheTool for ArcGIS Mobile 10.0?  This MobileCacheTool can extract selected features or features in a specified status (original/added/deleted/modified/current) to a shapefile.  There are similar MobileCacheTools for ArcGIS Mobile 9.2 and 9.3 and ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 3.0 and 3.1 releases on ArcGIS Mobile Galleries.

Cheers,
Denise

Update: Denise thank you; I have made good use of the MobileCacheTool taking the MapCache local database on the Trimble to shapefiles and images. I am doing so again now to solve an issue with Syncing, it would still be useful to be able to 'reset' the synchronization state back so that it could be tried again in the cases where the sync appears to work and finishes successfully yet data is not added to the database, One can not retry as some 'bit' gets set which prevents trying again unless you 'touch' each record (add comment etc) and try again or export with the previously mentioned tool.
