I am trying to get a workflow created using ESRI Maps for Sharepoint 3.0 and I keep getting beaten back during the ESRI Maps Locate workflow creation when it asks to login to ArcGIS Online.  The error I am getting is:  ArcGIS Portal URL - An invalid ArcGIS Portal URL was entered.  Please verify the URL.

We do have an ArcGIS Online Organizational account.  If I am editing the Silverlight ArcGIS Map Webpart on the Application Tab I can sign in to ArcGIS Online without issue.....I would assume both share the same configuration for the target url.  Based on this I am wondering:

1. Where exactly this "ArcGIS Portal URL" is this specified?  And what should be entered.
2. If all I want to do is try and leverage an Internal Locator do I have to sign in to ArcGIS Online?
3. Once I get this working....can we stay logged in so the workflow will continue to function?

As an aside, if I have added an ESRI Maps Location column to a List, how do I delete it?  I can delete other columns but not that one.

Thanks.

Hi David,

Hopefully I can answer a few of your questions:

1. Where exactly this "ArcGIS Portal URL" is this specified?  And what should be entered.
This setting is in the Esri Maps Configuration Settings and is called ArcGISConnection. By default it is set to http://www.arcgis.com, which is the appropriate address if you are connecting to an ArcGIS Online organization account. If you continue to have trouble here, you may want to contact Support.

2. If all I want to do is try and leverage an Internal Locator do I have to sign in to ArcGIS Online?
1. Yes, the Esri Maps Locate Workflow requires a valid ArcGIS login. 2. We don't support internal locators unless it is part of a Portal for ArcGIS instance. This is on our roadmap for a future release.

3. Once I get this working....can we stay logged in so the workflow will continue to function?
We've heard this request several times and we're currently working on a single sign-on experence. Thanks.

As an aside, if I have added an ESRI Maps Location column to a List, how do I delete it?  I can delete other columns but not that one.
Are you using the List Settings page for the list? Are you running into any errors, or simply not seeing the Delete button when clicking on the column from the List Settings page?

Hi Katy,

Thanks for the response.

I logged back into the site to try this again and was able to sign in to ArcGIS Online without issue, I am not sure why I couldn't when I initially posted.  Will have to monitor that.

At any rate I was able to delete the column using the List Settings page as you suggested; previously I was removing multiple columns using the Datasheet View but the ESRI Maps Location column could not be removed.

Thanks for your help.
