First off, is this the best place in GeoNet to discuss ESRI Maps for SharePoint? Maybe I'm missing a dedicated 'space' for that product? Second, can you elaborate on 4.0's support for disconnected environments? Thanks.
Hi Chris,
Yes, for now the Esri Maps for Location Analytics place/space is the best spot for Esri Maps for SharePoint. We ask that you simply tag your post if possible. But we're also open to suggestions! If you are primarily a SharePoint user and would prefer to see a single space dedicated to SharePoint, we can consider that.
When we say support for working in a disconnected environment, we mean that we are providing a way to use Esri Maps for SharePoint behind a firewall. We've had many requests for this. This does not mean that we are providing "offline" capabilities such as working offline and then coming back and syncing changes. It's simply a way to have all the necessary files available in your intranet instead of the internet. Let me know if you have more questions on this.

We are still evaluating EMSP for use in our SharePoint farms, so no need for a dedicated SharePoint space, at least for us. BTW, I don't see an obvious tag capability here ... maybe that is only for new posts?
Disconnected environment capability is a good thing. When we were running ArcGIS for SharePoint 2.1.1 in our evaluation sandbox, we saw that newly-enabled site collections used ArcGIS Online by default (e.g. for the geocoding service). What will the defaults be in a EMSP 4.0's disconnected environment? Empty values? SharePoint administrator controlled values? Something else?
All - we've just released Esri Maps for SharePoint 4.0 Beta 2. You can find the downloads on the Beta Community and the doc here: Esri Maps for SharePoint | ArcGIS
Thanks for your patience!
