Hi,  I just installed ArcGIS Webpart for Sharepoint 2 and the installation went through without any problems. Upon adding the webpart to a page, I then clicked "Add Content" and entered the location of the sharepoint list (which is on the same site as the page with the web part on it).

Example:

Location of the webpart page: http://.../Animals/Pages/Sighting-Test.aspx
Location of the list: http://.../Animals/Lists/Sightings/AllItems.aspx

No matter what I do though, I keep getting the message: "Unable to connect to ....."

Does anyone have any ideas why it wouldn't connect?

I am getting the same problem now.  It was working fine earlier but suddenly I started getting this problem.

I think I'm getting the same problem as well. When I try to connect directly to a feature layer within a map service, using the fully qualified URL, I get the "cannot connect to..." error. If navigate to the feature layer by browsing from the ".../rest/services" service directly, it throws a javascript (JSON) error.

When I select the entire Map Service, I am able to connect, however I only get the image data. All of the tools related to data query are greyed out.

My problem turned out to be a bad BCS list on the share point site.  On my Share Point site one of the BCS list created was not working due to the issue with underlying database.  Since one of the list is not working , it was not connecting to any local sharepoint list configured with ArcGIS Workflow.
Once I delete the BCS list it started working normal.

I finally found a site that the webpart would connect to. Only thing I can think of is that the other areas I tried to connect to unsuccesfully, had previously had lists that were built for use with v1.1 of the webpart.

Guys i have same problem, deployed arcgis webpart in fresh installed wss3.0 server. I added webpart it renders default map correctly. Then i set up list for the web part and added default fields for web part including map column. That worked too. Then i checked base maps, location properties and everything. everything looks fine. Now when i try to connect my list named"xyz" it gave me error "failed to retrive list....". If any one could help, i would really appreciate it.

Thank You
