Dynamic Data Extensibility

Before this release, dynamic filtering in SharePoint lists was limited to a one-way interaction, that is filtering of the ArcGIS map layer using the SharePoint list web part but now we have a major upgrade.

In this release, you can now have two-way interactions while using ArcGIS for SharePoint although you can’t filter a SharePoint list web part by a map layer you can filter your map layer by Client side web parts (Client side: Lists, Bar charts, Pie charts etc.). This means that our map layer can be interacted with in two ways.

  1. The map layer as a consumer from a client side web part. Figure (1)
  2. The map layer as a publisher to a client side web part. Figure (2)

Synchronize Map View

In the latest SharePoint update, you can now use two or more maps at the same time and at the same map extent. What’s better than one map when during feature comparison in SharePoint? More Maps! This new feature is so cool, and it allows users to be able to make comparisons between  features at the same extent. For example: you want to make a comparison to see if there are Hospitals located in fire hazard zones in California, you can synchronize the map view and get your information for the desired region at the same time, make your comparisons and draw your conclusion. Figure 3.

Bug Fixes

We are always working to make your work flows more streamlined and support the efficiency of your time in SharePoint.

The fixes include:

  • After connection parameters are changed during dynamic filtering, map layers now reset to show the changes.
  • You can now directly preview pictures tagged to documents.

Quality of Life Updates

  • You will only be able to see tools that are available for your use.
  • You will now be able to add  a SharePoint list with coordinates stored in a column with the type location directly to a map.
