We have identified the issue regarding maps not loading properly in reports. An example of this is when the map is blank and you need to click on a filter to activate it. In other cases, you need to clear the cache to resolve the issue. This issue has been resolved and will be released in our next update which is scheduled for late November 2024.

Thanks very much for your patience and please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!

Your support team helped me find workarounds that almost resolve the issues in the meantime, so they deserve some credit. However, the maps still do not load properly for internal reports published to the Power BI Service.

Here are some more detailed steps for the workarounds for anyone visiting this post.

  1. In Power BI Desktop, you can get it to function again by toggling something in the Visualizations > Format Visual panel, but you have to do this every time to open the file or switch to a different page. You can resolve the issue by deleting your map visuals, clearing your cache, and rebuilding them from scratch. They instructed me to clear the cache by going to C:\Users\[your user]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop\ and deleting the Cache and WebView2 folders.
  2. In the Power BI Service, for internally published reports, there is no true resolution. If there is a map on your landing page, it will not load. But if you go to another page and then go back to that page, it will load. Sure, this is just one extra step for me, but telling your end users the map doesn't work unless you flip back and forth between pages isn't a great look.
  3. In the Power BI Service, for public/embedded reports, if you clear your cache, rebuild the reports from scratch, and republish the report, the maps will work.

And here is my original post.

Hi everyone,

Following the guidance for in the Power BI service, do we have to rebuild the entire report from scratch? or just the map visual? Or just the specific page the map visual is on. We have a dashboard with multiple pages that it would be time consuming to build from scratch.

Hi @JepchumbaKoech,

I assume you have other Power BI visuals or filters in your report, right? If that's the case, try to click on them or do the filtering. This can activate the map.

@NaZhang_Esri ,

Thank you for the update regarding the deployment delay. I understand that unforeseen circumstances can sometimes affect timelines, especially during the holidays.

Since we have been waiting for quite some time, could you kindly share the expected timeline for the next deployment? Knowing the updated schedule would help us plan accordingly on our end.

Thank you for your efforts, and I appreciate your support in keeping us informed.
