Within a single spreadsheet, I am attempting to create/add a second layer using data on a second sheet. When I select the cells on the second sheet in the 'Add layer' dialogue, I receive an error saying "Data already belongs to a hosted ArcGIS layer". Is this simply not possible or am I missing something?

To clarify:

Sheet 1 data → layer 1 created; works fine

Sheet 2 data  x  unable to create layer 2

Good afternoon @Mark_

Thank you for posting your inquiry. Another user had reported similar behavior, can you check the workflow in this post https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-for-excel-questions/cannot-add-the-worksheet-to-arcgis-for-exce...

For Sheet 2 are you trying to add the same Excel data from Sheet 1? Or are these two entirely different datasets on the sheets?

Thank you!

Two different datasets on the sheets.

Thanks @Mark_ the current workaround still applies - copy the data, then paste it to another sheet using "Paste with Values".

One more mention  @Mark_ if you delete the shared layer, you will be able to re-add the data again.
