Q: An upgrade is required to use ArcGIS for Excel. Please install Microsoft Edge WebView2 control.
Solution:
Install Microsoft Edge with WebView2(Chromium-based) control.
Follow these steps to install:
- Ensure that the installed Microsoft Office version on your machine is greater than version 13530. Check for Office version -> Open Excel -> Go to File tab -> Account
2. Install Edge Webview2 on your machine – https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/
3. Select Standalone x64 installer, download, then run the installer.
4. Create this registry key “Win32WebView2” in your machine at this location –
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\WEF\
5. Set its value to 1.
6. Clear cache. Open Command prompt as administrator, and run the following command - rmdir /s /q "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Wef"
7. Open Excel -> Go To ‘ArcGIS’ Tab – Show Map.
ArcGIS for Excel map opens without any warning message.
