Existing known limitations
It is crucial to acknowledge any existing known limitations that may impact the expected outcomes of using ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma. This section provides information on known limitations, so that you can better understand the expected outcomes while working with the extension.
Note: Some of our limitations are influenced by the underlying codebase of Autodesk Forma.
Item number | Limitation description | Workaround |
|---|
1 | ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma currently supports feature layers, web maps, web scenes, and some imagery layers. | N/A |
2 | Attribute information is not available for imagery layers in ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma. | Attribute information for imagery layers can be analyzed in ArcGIS Online / Enterprise. |
3 | ArcGIS layers cannot be duplicated across Forma proposals from a single Forma site. | N/A |
4 | If you switch between Forma proposals while ArcGIS layers are being imported, the layers will be added to the active proposal. | Wait for the import process to complete before switching between Forma proposals. |
5 | If you edit an ArcGIS feature in Forma that was imported as a building feature, such as adding more floor levels, the feature becomes detached from ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma. After removing the associated GIS layer in the ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma extension, the edited ArcGIS feature will remain in the Forma site. | Select the detached ArcGIS feature in the Forma site and click the Delete key to remove it. |
6 | Color, transparency, and line weight of solid line/outline for basic shape symbols are supported for ArcGIS features in Forma. | Adjust the style of your GIS data in ArcGIS to achieve the desired visuals. See Layer styles to learn more. |
7 | Layer features placed in the Other category (if using Unique Values to symbolize data) do not display correctly in Autodesk Forma. | Move the layer features out of the Other category. |
8 | Some native Forma Site Design commands cannot be tracked on imported layers or imagery layers in the extension. This can cause the layers displayed in the extension to not match the content in the Forma site. | Use the extension to manage ArcGIS layers, including adding/re-adding, removing, and refreshing layers. Avoid mass Undo/Redo via Forma Site Design commands. |
10 | Importing layers with more than 2,000 features as native Forma Site Design elements (Roads, Buildings, or Property Boundaries) may result in a 413 Content Too Large error. | To workaround this, use the Import as Generic option. |
