Field Maps prompts for a logon rather than letting me finish searching for a publicly accessible map. This issue seems to occur on Android (across multiple users) but not on iPhone.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Log out from Field Maps
2. Click on the search icon
3. Start typing in the name of a map (eg. cams)
Field Maps then prompts for a logon.
If I type in the version number (0.5k-1e), I can find and open the map OK. Other combinations like 'public', 'weeds' etc sometimes prompt for a login and sometimes let me open the map.
Any suggestions how to resolve the issue so I can provide our users with reliable instructions?
My Field Maps version is 25.1.0 Build 1529.

Do you have a specific map that I can try this with on my side? I'm on the same version myself, but the 3-4 I tested with all worked. What could be happening is the public map may have a private layer or one shared via distributed collaboration without shared credentials, therefor requesting credentials.

Yep, the one we're trying to open is CAMS Public Weeds Map iNat (0.5k-1e ReadOnly). It opens fine if I type in "0.5k-1e" to open it, but typing in "ca" prompts me for a login.

So if I'm understanding correctly, you search for 0.5k-1e and it opens without issue. Searching for "ca" as in searching for "cams public weeds" does not work and prompts for login?
I was able to find only one map with this name, and either way I searched it had let me login, but your case may be different.
Can you send me a screenshot of the field map information page (I'd check if both of these are the same field map):

After I type "ca" or "cam", I'm not doing anything else, Field Maps automatically shows the login prompt. It's just a question of how fast I type "cams" before Field maps shows the login.

Now this is strange! I've never seen this type of reaction from the Field Maps application, is it possible to test with any coworkers or possible on an iOS device?
I would try updating the Field Maps application if possible, and if you're able to, uninstall and reinstall the app.
If this all doesn't work, I would open up a ticket with ESRI Support, as there's definitely something odd, and a bug report would need made if it persists.

Hi Cody, yes others on the team have the same behaviour on Android. We tried with an iPhone and couldn't reproduce it.
I've just uninstalled and reinstalled and get the same behaviour.
I'll raise a support ticket.
