Field Maps version 25.1.0 on Android ( IOS seems to work fine )
It recently came to my attention that none of my users with an android phone can skip login then search for public maps using the Field Maps app. It seems that either entering certain words or scrolling through results when partial search terms are entered results in a login required popup. This is before you've ever selected a map to open. Just scrolling down in the list or still entering search words. Strange as it sounds, this occurs mostly with some of the words required to find our maps. I can enter certain words and then scroll the results like normal. I can't seem to enter "information", "Utility", "Land", "Dickinson", or any combination of such words.
Any Ideas our there Is this a bug??
One thing we have found is that we can use certain words if typed in fast enough or in a different order. We are thinking there is some map other then ours, coming into the search results either by typing or scrolling and causing field maps to ask for a login just because its in the results.
HI @DarylHochhalter , I have confirmed that I see the same thing on my Android device and will report this to the team to see if we can sort out what is happening here. Thank you for bringing this up.
Some colleagues recently ran into this, and this was registered as a bug:
BUG-000174838: After the ArcGIS Online February 2025 update, searching for publicly shared layers in the ArcGIS Online catalog in ArcGIS Map Viewer prompts a login if the search returns an item from a canceled subscription.
This bug was closed as 'As Designed'.
However, our local ESRI representatives already re-contacted ESRI Inc. about this, and we also escalated the issue.
The bug you reference was logged against and closed by the arcgis online team. A separate bug was logged for the behavior in Field Maps, which is BUG-000175957
The Field Maps team have investigated and plan on having a fix for the next release of Field Maps (25.2) later this year. As a workaround, you can use an app link or QR code to open the map instead. Locate the itemID of the web map by opening it in ArcGIS Online in a Browser (if possible, I wasnt previously aware of the AGOL bug until now). The itemID is the alphanumeric string at the end of the web map's URL (e.g., webmap=itemID).
