Hello,
We are using external GNSS antennas for high-accuracy measurements within Field Maps but occasionally the point features are saved without any GNSS metadata or just with RTK Float solution. Unfortunately, we can only see it in the office after the survey. We can also check every single point for a fix solution on the site but this is very tedious process and not very user-friendly for our workers. Is there a way to see if the point has FIXED solution during submission without opening a "GPS accuracy" window within the Field Maps map? It would be very useful if the text above the map says for example "GPS accuracy 1.8 cm (FIX)" instead of "GPS accuracy 1.8 cm".
We use symbology to alert users to a potentially bad location value. They won't see it until after they submit, however, they are still right there and will hopefully notice the symbol indicating something is wrong.
For example, you can symbolize your layer based on the gps metadata "Fix Type" field, displaying a huge red X, if it is not "RTK Fixed". Choose something ridiculous looking that easily catches the users' attention.
If you are already using symbology based on another field in your layer, then you can use an Arcade Expression that supports your regular symbology when "Fix Type" is "RTK Fixed" and the red X when it isn't.
Good idea, I was also thinking about this solution but was not sure about the best way to do it. We already use an attribute field to symbolize the points. I will try using arcade for non-fix solution. Howevert, I previously had an issue with large datasets and Arcade which did not work well for 100k+ features so I have to test that first.
I do not see an option to set RTK Fixed Only but I can specify the accuracy threshold for example within 1 meter or less. The problem with that is sometimes we get relatively good accuracy even though it if float and it did not work out well for several times. Having different symbology for non-Fix data could be an interesting solution that I have to investigate.
I'm guessing your using a middleware (Trimble TMM) or Leica (Zeno connect). Both can stay on and can verify for the field user your Fixed/Float. Pretty sure.
We are using Emlid GNSS with direct connection to Field maps via Bluetooth. I have to check if there is an option to restrict the data collection to RTK Only in the emlid flow app.
Seems like this setting is available from the version 11.2 onwards. We have an older version and no surprise that I haven't seen this one available in the settings.
