Labels in a Mobile Map Package

Does anyone know of any issues/bug fixes/workarounds for layers (that are turned off) in a mobile map package that still display the labels? The only way I have found to get them to turn off is to turn the layer on and back off. This is not very productive to say the least. This is happening with lines and polygons both. We can't convert everything to a vtpk as the staff will need to identify the layers underneath. Has anyone else had this issue and have a better workaround?

Hi,

This is something that came over from Collector/Explorer and we are looking into addressing in a coming release of Field Maps. I hope to see a fix coming down the pipeline in the near future. Thank you for inquiring.

I am experiencing a similar problem with a mmpk from Field Maps... but only with lines.

If I turn off the group layer, it still displays the labels (only for lines, the points turn off just fine). But if I turn off only the line layer, and not all the group, the labels are gone with it.
If it comes from the same bug/error, I'm looking forward to seeing it fixed

@AileYG This should be fixed for polygons and lines in the next Field Maps release in mid-April. Thanks!

Hmm. . . . it's 2025 and I'm running into this problem with ArGIS Pro 3.4.2 and Field Maps 25.1.0.  I've got polygons that just labeled but no matter what I do, the line feature classes (2 if them) won't label in Field Maps.  It happens on both iPad and iPhone.

Hi @PLadd , sorry for the delayed response. To clarify, this is an mmpk you created in Pro 3.4.2 and all of the layers should have labels, just the line feature classes are not showing them? Are the layers grouped? Does turning on/off the layer display and/or group layer change the labeling? Thanks!

Hi @ColinLawrence .  Thanks for following up.  One of your colleagues in tech support was able to work out a solution for me.  My problem stemmed from having conditional VBA scripting statements for labeling (used Arcade instead).  Was told to also first create a file MMPK, load the file MMPK back into another map in APro and then write that out to a Portal mmpk.  It's working now.

Interesting, glad its working for you now.  Thanks for providing that insight!
