Hi All,
I believe that we should have a web/Windows App version of ArcGIS Field Maps. New Web Map Viewer is too tedious to perform editing for non-GIS users in the organization. For field workers, they can use their work phones (on if your organization provides that), but for office workers... or workers prefer to do their edit/update using web browser. I know there is "Experience Builder" that has an editing widget to be added (not on my Enterprise 10.9.1 but only AGOL). Few suggestions here...
Thanks a lot,
Reno
Is there any plans to add FieldMaps as a widget to Experience Builder? That would allow an easy transition from the field to the office.
That would work and it would mean we wouldn't have to make and maintain two apps for every task (one in field maps and one for in the office) We could just consume the original field map with the widget and be able to use it on any device including windows desktops.
I'm not sure this would work for us. We use / provide our contractors mmpks to view our data offline.
Looks like Windows will no longer have the Windows Subsystem for Android option.
We could also use this. Our meter readers at our multi-county agency use Trimble Yumas running Windows 10. We also can't install Android subsystem (which MS is deprecating anyway apparently)
We need a native app. Sure it would amazing to have a web app but I suspect that it won't be able to access Bluetooth and GPS devices like Trimble, thus negating a lot of use. (Not for all; but for those who need accuracy spatially)
Basically, we need a modern ArcPad. Win 10/11 'toughbooks' for a lot of use cases are not going away and Android/iOS will not be replacing Windows for many vertical markets, for a variety of reasons.
rescuemap is right, related data in new map viewer and experience builder are still not at parity with Classic viewer and WebApp Builder. And we still need bulk editing. But most important, the new web products have user interfaces that are harder to use as a developer and to code for and harder for end users to understand. More clicks, less color in buttons, more confusing, code underneath more cumbersome. (JS API 3x to 4x) I understand Model View Controller. However this is all mostly to support 3d. As with most folks, we don't really need 3d. We do need related data and products that support related data across platforms, mobile to web to backend.
update: or better yet a web app. Like how Survey123 has. But a native app would be able to get the GNSS info.
