We would love to be able to implement select multiple type questions in Field Maps. We currently have a use case where field staff need to select multiple types of waste found on a site and record contextual information for each one.
This is the current design in Survey123, but we would love to migrate this all into one single app instead of using Collector for visibility in the field, and Survey for collecting the data.
We need multiple choice selection integrated into Field Maps!
Adding my use case for needing this option, I have users who conduct plant surveys in which we record species within a given area, our species list domain is over 2000 entries long. Currently we have to store the information across multiple fields, i.e. Species_1, Species_2, etc. each with the large species domain list. This layer is highly unstable, slow to load, and crashes FM often, I suspect its because we have the domain list repeated in the layer for each Species_x field (also why can't multiple fields share the same domain, as is done in a GDB instead of each one getting its own version of the same source domain?).
Survey123 could facilitate this, it lacks critical mapping options that we require for field intelligence and collection of other data types. I am also aware that I can configure FM to launch S123 with a pre-populated sheet containing the "Repeat" option to accomplish this. However, we don't want to burden field users with having to constantly jump between applications. Related tables in FM are also not a great solution for us since they would greatly increase data entry time and also require a scripted method of reconciling the data back into the parent feature.
Another vote for this to be implemented. We need the multiple selections in FieldMaps.
Another vote for the ability to apply multiple selections for a field in field maps. Multi-selection functionality for fields in editing forms would help streamline data collection in field maps.
Another vote, this would be really helpful on both ArcGIS online and field maps.
Wow, this has been a thing for awhile.
Also needed in my case.
I'm fairly new to community boards so not sure how we I can escalate on my own if anyone wants to give pointers. I could notify my rep about this and see if I can get any answers on if its planned for future or what the hold up is.
Esri mentioned in a blog post from 1/24/25 that they are "working on the highly requested multiple-choice feature, so keep your eyes peeled for updates and future beta testing opportunities!"
