Hi,
I was having some performance issues with ArcMap 10 at work. Overall performance was sluggish, and whenever I would click the Add Data button, the program would freeze up for several minutes before allowing me to browse my folder connections.
As I started investigating what was going on, I noticed that in my Documents/ArcGIS folder, I not only had the Default.gdb, but I had a Default1.gdb, Default2.gdb, all the way to Default4230.gdb. Thousands and thousands of empty geodatabases! I exited ArcMap, deleted all but Default.gdb, and performance is back to normal within the application now.
Later in the same day, performance slowed a little bit, and I noticed that I now have Default1 through Default280.gdb. Deleting the extras again increased program performance.
Does anyone have an idea why these extra geodatabases are being created? I discovered that it was happening on another colleagues machine as well.
Appreciate any feedback.
