Hello Folks,

Did now know if I should have posted this in here, or in the Python threads, but anyways, here goes.  Is there anyway to place icons automatically.  I have a polygon shapefile that will be created within python for automation purposes(which means it will be dynamic). Can I somehow with ArcMap or python, plot icons in the center or offset somehow within this shapefile.  For example, if I'm expecting flooding in an area, and I have a shapefile outlining that area (keep in mind the shapefile will change daily), can I place 'flooding' icons somewhere in that shapefile?

Thanks...

You could use Representations in ArcMap to symbolize the polygon with a point.  To use representations your data will need to be in a geodatbase format though.
