getting metadata by clicking on image in ArcGIS Explorer Desktop

There is a cool viewer JS application on the esri web site that allows one to click on a image service map and return some metadata, such as the source and date. Is there any way to do this in ArcGIS Explorer desktop?

It may be that the Identify is really going against a polygon layer, because a polygon is drawn over the image.
