I can't seem to get the path to a remote address locator to be validated in the application configuration manager. The connection works just fine through the add data dialogue, and adding the service and address locator in ArcGIS Desktop is no problem either. It's just when I enter the full path into the custom services in ArcGIS Explorer (Desktop, not Online) that I'm having problems (the red X).

I'm not very familiar with adding ArcGIS Server services, but I don't understand why it would work in some areas and not others. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Nicholas,

What URL are you trying on your server?

To get custom Locator services working you'll need to specify the URL all the way to the actual service e.g. http://sampleserver1.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/services/Locators/ESRI_Geocode_EU/GeocodeServer.

Regards

Mike

I think that it will be the 'rest' bit of that URL that's not required then - Explorer will use the Soap service url of the locator, so you should just be able to remove the '\rest' part, and then the URL should point to the soap service correctly.

That did the trick. Thank you Shelly!
