Is AGX 1750 able to connect to ArcSDE 10.1 Geodatabases?

Eric,

No, 1750 is ArcGIS 10 compliant.   The next release of ArcGIS Explorer (2500) will be able to view ArcGIS 10.1 geodatabases and layer files.

I am unable to connect to ArcSDE using 2500.

I am trying to connect to an SQL server following the instructions: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#//002q00000039000000

My SQL Server instance is called myServer, the port number is 1234 (they are not actual values), so I type myServer into the Server text box, sde:sqlserver:myServer,1234 into the Service text box, and the database name in the database name field. I am using OS authentication. This doesnt work. i have tried various permutations for the connection details, but no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

However, this doesn't work, and neither does the information on using a direct connection to SQL Server, which is a link from this page, included in my previous post.

Nick,

One thing that is vital with Direct Connect is to have the proper database client installed. It needs to be a 32-bit client, as ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcGIS Explorer Desktop are still 32-bit applications.

This may well be the cause of your issues. Install a proper database client and see if you can connect.

Thanks,

Only the 64-bit client installs on a 64 bit OS (which is what I have), and besides, I am able to make a direct connection via ArcMap with this client, but not with Explorer.

Have you installed the ArcGIS Explorer expansion pack? From my reading it looks like that's required. It's available on the ArcGIS Explorer install page (for whichever version you have). I hope this helps. I'm trying to do the same thing, but not quite there yet.
