We are using ArcCatalog 10 with an Oracle 10g ArcSDE 9.3.1 database.  When trying to add a new attribute index, the "unique" option is disabled (grayed out).  I see this option is not available for file and SQL Server geodatabases, but it should with Oracle... we have used this in the past.

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot!

ESRI support helped me out... When creating a new attribute index, the ??unique? option is disabled (grayed out) for versioned feature classes.  The only way around this is to make a copy of the feature class (which will not be versioned), delete the original and rename this new one? then you must create ALL unique indexes before registering as versioned.

Thanks for posting this. I am curious now, will it work if I simply unregister as versioned before attempting to add the unique attribute index? The feature class resides in a feature dataset with topology, routes, and annotation, and is also 2-way replicated. That's why I hesitate to simply make a copy to have it unversioned. Would these mentioned characteristics (particularly the replica) prevent me from unregistering? Would unregistering break the replica? I don't know what to do.

Thanks,
Justin
