I am developing an Experience Builder (EB) application for a client and I am mimicking the structure of a previous EB that I made for a different client. The original EB was built on ArcGIS Online. This new EB is being built on Enterprise Portal. The first image below shows what the ArcGIS Online Map Layers widget can be configured for. Within the Map Layers widget, I can customize the layers of the map that I want to be able to be visible within the Map Layer Widget in the EB. It also allows the actions portion of the widget to be configured as well.
The second image below shows what the ArcGIS Enterprise Portal Map Layers widget can be configured for. Within the Map Layers widget, there is no option to customize layers of the map. There is also no option for the actions portion of the widget.
Is this a difference for Experience Builder between ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise? Or is this a permissions issue within ArcGIS Enterprise for the account that I have not being able to use Experience Builder to its capacity?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I believe I found the answer after some digging. If others are having this issue, this is a result of Enterprise not having the same capabilities as ArcGIS Online. Experience Builder in Enterprise can not do as much as ArcGIS Online, and therefore the Map Layers widget is not as robust. This could be something that ESRI should look into when updating widgets, but allowing more to be configurable with the users platform and data.

Hi @ckellow It's simply due to the version of the experience builder that you used.
Actually on ArcGOL it"s on EXB 1.15; dependly of the version of the arcgis enterprise you have not the same version of EXB. Here is the link of versionning depending of the version of your enterprise : https://developers.arcgis.com/experience-builder/guide/release-versions/
I'm actually on ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1, so i have only acess to the EXB 1.10.
BUT, the clever way that you can use it's to install the ArcGIS Experience Builder Developer Edition. Whit this way, you can use the last version of EXB (1.15), have the same option that is avaiable on ARCGOL and export your application developed on the ArcGIS Enterprise.
and look for me (no arcgol solution) :
I have the customize option (and all of the other parameter below) - sorry french edition 🙂
Voilà 🙂
Thank you I appreciate your response. Unfortunately for me, I do not have access to the developer edition as I am a consultant involving the use of someone else's enterprise. In this aspect, I cannot gain access to the developer edition. I will look to advise those that I am in contact with to see if they will be able to use this solution. Thank you.
The developer edition doesn't need any licences. You have just to install on local to your computer; create your experience builder, download the zip and publish it on the portal server.
So you can use your computer to create the app and send the ZIP to anyone who manage the Portal in the other enterprise and it's over !
