Is it possible to assign different filters on widgets pulling from the same layer?

I have been trying to teach myself Experience Builder, and I have reached the inevitable 'this is so frustrating' stage that everyone told me would eventually happen.   

Very simply, I have two list widgets pulling from the same data layer, and I want to filter each to show different attributes.   Is that possible in EB?

You can create two data views from one data layer, and use them in the two list widgets.
