Is it possible to uninstall Python 2.7 and ArcMap 10.5-7 will still work? Partially work? Not at all? I ask because...

As I understand it, Python 2.7 is not going to stop working and does not have to be uninstalled.  However, there will be no bugfixes going forward.

Thomas... leave it alone

It is just like the end of a truck line.  It will keep plodding along but there will be no upgrades, patches by the python people.  It will become another language that still limps along (remember Cobol? still going in many organizations).

I would invest some time with python in ArcGIS Pro  since it it python 3.6.8 (3.8 release 1 is out), so I suspect they wanted to 'retire' 2.7 before Python 4.0 comes out.

PS.  When I used to use ArcMap, I wrote all my programs in Python 3 and they miraculously worked! Go figure!

There are always work arounds and nothing is really that tied to 2.7.

I will warn everyone when something bad happens
