Hello,
I am following the tutorial to setup Reviewer Service for ArcGIS 10. Installer reports all items created successfully. Service icon in tray begins flashing "Service not currently running". Reviewer Service Control shows service stopped. Start service, status changes to running and the following message appears "The service has an invalid configuration file. Check Windows Event log for errors loading the configuration file". Windows Event log shows error on the RevService whith two comments. Error accessing ... revserviceconfig.xml and the the config file ...revserviceconfig.xml does not exist.  I confirmed the xml file does exist in the correct directory.

Running Windows 7 SP1. Also got a message that program might not have installed correctly, try reinstalling using settings that are compatible with this version of Windows (Program: ReviewerServiceInstaller). Wondering if I am try to install wrong version of Data Reviewer?? ESRI PatchFinder.exe reports I am running Desktop 10 SP4 and Data Reviewer 10. Was unable to find any reference to the invalid config file this in the forum.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi,

Can you please confirm if you are experiencing the below mentioned bug:

http://support.esri.com/es/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/39064
Bug:  Program Compatibility Assistant dialog box appears when installing SP1 or SP2 for Esri Production Mapping 10

If yes, follow the workaround and then try to start the Reviewer service.

If no, please let me know if you are able to create and run a batch job in ArcMap with no issues.

Hello, Thank you for the reply. I am not experiencing that bug. I am only installing the Data Reviewer as a stand-alone extension and I can see the extension in the extension dialog.I was able to successfully create a batch job and run it through the Batch Validate procedure and I viewed the results in the table.
Thank you Steven

Have you applied any service packs or patches for ArcGIS Data Reviewer 10? Please see the link below:

I finally got Data Reviewer up to 10 SP5 Patch 2 and still had the configuration file issue whenever the I tried to install the service.  The install for the extension wrote to C:\Program Files (x86)\.... but I chose to place the Reviewer directory on a network drive. Everything with DR apparently worked but I continued to have the configuration file issue with the service until I copied the Reviewer directory to C:\Reviewer and edited the rbj and xml files to reflect that change. Then the service started without error.  Just wondering why this is required?  Our users have very limited write privileges to C:\ so I am wondering if this will be an issue. I couldn't find any documentation regarding this. Thank you in advance for any comments.
