Dashboard selection zooming too close

I'm new to dashboards. I've created two of them, and in both projects, when zooming to a selected field, the scale is so large that no map features are visible besides the selected point. I'm sure this is a simple fix, but I've been wracking my brain trying to solve the issue.

Hey @jes483_pennstate ,

In your dashboard, go to the web map settings and make sure you're on the "Settings" tab on the left. At the bottom of this window, there will be a setting called "Point Zoom Scale." Set that to your desired setting. Depending on the project, I usually like mine around 5000.

Thanks, but adjusting that, larger or smaller scale, has no effect on the selection zoom.

I'm also having this issue - the map zooms in far too close when I have filtering on, and there is only one feature it's zooming to. There should be a limit on how far it zooms in automatically?

Did this ever get resolved?  I've made several dashboards and haven't had this issue until today.  I've changed the point zoom scale from 10000 to 5000 to 1000 to 100 to 50 to 5, and it zooms the same distance (pretty much pixel level).  Any ideas?

Hello, I have the same problem. In theory the "point zoom scale" option is great, but it doesn't work. It makes no difference if it is 1,000,000 or 10. It zooms past my data and only shows white vector background so the user sees nothing. The JSON reflects that I changed the value to 5000 and it still doesn't work. Is there anything else to do about this?

I ended up created points from my polygons and then creating a buffer that would ensure the map would end up showing the user a decent scale. This did mean that I had to reconfig the dashboard to use the buffer instead of the original feature layer but all in all, a quick fix. I don't love that even though I have the buffer set's symbology set to transparent white, it's still somewhat visible. I turned off the selection color in the map settings too.
