Upgrade Dashboard for Enterprise 10.9.1 to show attachments in Details

The new Dashboards after upgrading (I now view it as a downgrade) to 10.9.1 Attachments will now no longer show in Details.

I filed BUG-000146647 and the official answer is that

Server-based layers and hosted feature layers from previous versions of ArcGIS Enterprise can only display attachments as a list. Hosted feature layers from ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1 can display attachments as a list or in a gallery.

Interesting. Does that mean such a layer would need to be re-published in 10.9.1?

That was tried before contacting ESRI support. It was also duplicated for the ESRI rep and the ESRI rep was able to duplicate the issue with their own data.

Out of curiosity, when you mention "list vs gallery," are you referring to the dashboard elements? The dashboard editor functionality where you click the "plus" icon (top-right) and select "List" or "Details"? And the attachments are not working in "Details" but still work in "List" (unless using hosted feature layers)?

If true that is definitely a downgrade 😞

We're about to do an Enterprise upgrade to 10.9.1 and use attachments mainly in the "List" element. I'm hoping the problem you describe is not impacting that.

But yes Dashboard elements.

Using Details you can show attachments. In the previous Dashboard it looks like this

This is huge for us too, 10.9.1 has been such a disappointment. We require the previews as we have multiple versions of pictures for each feature!

We have an application I developed to facilitate getting AS Built drawing updates back from the Field Crews to the Engineers.

They take photos of drawing changes and hit submit. Savings of 3 or 4 days per drawing issue.

This makes the dashboard useless for this application. Fortunately I had instructed the Engineers to make a bookmark in their browser which still works to show the Dashboard Classic.

I also have a number of other dashboards that rely on attachments.

Hi @RobertBorchert and @GeomaticsAecon were there any other disappointments besides the dashboard attachment for 10.9.1? Just asking since we're currently planning on upgrading to 10.9.1

@AJ_devaccount you cannot create domains/lists on feature services.. there are a lot of little bugs…

Also there is a minor bug with Field Maps and the Configure for Field Maps.

If you have Field Maps open and you configure the form and save it, then make a change to the map your configurations go away.

The ESRI workaround is to only have one or the other tab open at a time.

However, the dashboard thing is very frustrating. There are some other aspects of the new dashboard that are very exciting.

With the November 2022 upgrade in ArcGIS Online, all classic dashboards have forcefully upgraded to ArcGIS Dashboards. This has brought about a major challenge for those still using Enterprise referenced layers (not hosted) due to the display as list only limitation for images where a thumbnail preview of the image does not display. Has there been any progress towards fixing this issue so far?? Viewing of image thumbnails issue is a major hindrance to our business workflow.
