I just need info to help me get started and to know what I can do.
Welcome, Todd! Have you checked out the Collector Resources page? It has a "Get started" section that takes you through some exercises and material to jumpstart your Collector use.
Hi Todd, we're happy to help you out getting started, I left some questions below to start with:
Do you have a specific project or goal in mind using Collector for ArcGIS?
Will you be using Collector with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise?
Are you using Collector by yourself or are you preparing a team of people to use Collector in your organization?
What type of data are you planning to capture? Do you plan to capture new features, edit existing features, or both?
Some helpful content to get started with:
Hi Todd,
Just to add onto the previous posts, there's a good 1 hour Esri Training webinar that provides a nice overview for Collector for ArcGIS. The webinar video is free to view if you're on maintenance.
Field Data Workflows with Collector for ArcGIS
Hope this helps,
Derek,
Thank you for sending the video, it helped a lot. As I said I am so new to
this and the learning curve is large. Like drinking water from a fire
hydrant. I am hoping to do some research and figure out how to add a
question about the asset and/or how to connect survey123 to the collector.
Also, how does one set the streaming so that it will set a point every 25
feet? Can you place a GPS point without placing a feature?
Thanks again, wonderful help.
Thank you,
Todd Ackerman

Hi Todd,
> ... how to add a question about the asset and/or how to connect survey123 to the collector.
I believe you're asking if you can enable inter-app communication between Survey123 and Collector for ArcGIS. Yes, this is possible, please watch this video: Inter-App Communication with ArcGIS Apps - YouTube
> ... how does one set the streaming so that it will set a point every 25 feet?
Please see this help topic: Capture—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS - look for the streaming capability.
> ... Can you place a GPS point without placing a feature?
Not sure what you mean here. Typically to capture a GPS location, yes, you would add a point.
Hope this helps,
