Updating hosted feature layer in ArcMap

Question

I have a polygon hosted feature layer which needs to be updated periodically in ArcGIS Online. I bring the hosted feature layer into my ArcMap document to perform the update and then when I go to Sycronize local edits with server, the update disappears. The record is still in the table but the polygon disappears. Why is this?

I am using ArcMap 10.2

Hello Scott!

ArcMap can be tricky when updating Online content as it often hides error messages behind the scenes. The best way to expose those error messages and find out why something's occurring is to get a Fiddler log when trying to synchronize your local edits. I'd recommend doing a quick review of the software Fiddler, and see if you can capture a log during synchronization:
