Hey Everyone,

Quick question - I am required to create a crowd sourcing app using ArcGIS. I followed the steps highlighted here:

http://doc.arcgis.com/en/collector/android/create-maps/prepare-data-desktop.htm

Something is not quite right. the editable layer is not showing up as editable. Am I missing things here?

Here is what i did in detail

- Created file geodatabase and empty feature class - with fields (thats what I want to show up as a form)

-Saved it in my SDE server

- Shared as service

- followed the steps in the link above

The layer is not editable. Here is the link to my map - http://arcg.is/1xj0Vzg

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Tanya

Hi Tanya -- That map has map services in it, and to be editable, you'd need feature services. In the topic you linked, feature services are created by giving feature access capability in the publishing step. See Prepare your data in ArcGIS for Desktop—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS "Publish your data" steps 6- 8.

Hey Kylie,

Thanks for the response. I did every single step carefully. I can provide you with the screenshots. Do we have to create a manual EDIT button? I even downloaded esri data from that link and I have the same issue. It shows up as a non editable layer. Any way around it?

When I go to the map you linked, and I view the item details for it (http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=88c56c0851ff48069de8cc95736a0723 -- under About you can click "more details" to get there) I can see that your Public Input layer is definitely a map service, and not a feature service:

Perhaps you did create a feature service as well, but didn't add that to the map? You need to make sure the feature service, and not the map service, is what gets added to your map.
