Collector for ArcGIS not compatible with Android 6?

We just tried to install Collector for ArcGIS on one of our office smartphones, a HUAWEI with Android 6. When we try to download from the Google App Store it shows the message "not compatible with your device". 

I just checked for the requirements on the Collector webpage and it says from Android 4.2.

Did someone else faced this issue? 

I find this error message not very helpful. Does someone know if this comes from the google side or if this is something configured with the app so it could be improved from the Esri side?

I just tried the OpenGl and I have version 3.0.  But wouldn't that mean that its better?  Would like to think it could be resolved.  In the meantime I also wrote to collector4arcgis@esri.com.  If I hear back from them with anything interesting Ill post here.

I would also think OpenGL 3.0 should be compatible with 2.0...

Hi Nicole

This might or might not be a solution for you but in the interim - perhaps you can see if you can side-load the APK file to install Collector that way. I have done it with another application which gave me the same incompatibility error and I was able to install it that way. Perhaps this could be a temporary solution for you.

I usually use apkpure to download apks:

we have 100 of this phones , we install collector using the apk  and it works but sometime we have error that in other phone doesn't

any clue

We've found that Google Play is incorrectly reporting that some compatible devices are not compatible. There is a workaround: you can install Collector directly from Esri by following the steps in FAQ: How do I download Collector for ArcGIS without access to Google Play or the Windows Store?
