Is it possible to open it directly ?  As it is the case in a CAD software ( i.e. Archicad).

I proceeded as follows (cumbersome):
1- I copied all Navigator's elements from one to other;
2- I imported the workspace from one to other
3- The terrain appears as "unknown texture"
4- I tried laywer=>terrain=>window "terrain" ,etc. but it did not fit properly. I could manage to make it fit, but I guess there is a trick somehow to make things easier. Am I wrong ?

My best wishes for a Happy Season's Holidays

Hi !

This should be almost seamless.

Though we strongly recommend to create a new workspace.

So ..
Start CE 2013 in the new workspace, copy all projects from old to new workspace, import them into new Workspace, open scene.

Let me know how it goes ..

Hi Matt,
Yes ,I imported the project,opening the scene I have the graphs,the shapes,the objects but not the terrain (heightmap nor texture), although it appears in the inspector.
My best,

Hi,

It's just the terrain's heightmap and texture paths that are wrong. Just select the terrain in the scene editor, then fix the paths in the Inspector.

Ok ?

Hi,

I try to open a CE 2012 project in CE 2013 many times, there is no problem. I use "Import -> Existing Projects into Workspace" function.

But there is a big problem;
One time "Import" the project in 2013, It can not open CE 2012 again.

Then, How to open a CE 2013 project in CE 2012?

Thanks,

Hi,

CityEngine 2013 scenes cannot be opened in 2012..

There's no ( never was ) backwards compatibility in CityEngine cej files..

The only way to go back is to export the actual data from 2013 (e.g. GDB) and reimport in 2012.
