Is there any documents on how to create two combined custom variables in Business Analyst?  I need one for adults age 18+ by specific household incomes, education attainment, median household income, median home value and generation.  Can this be done?

Hello Robin,

Here is the documentation you are looking for: Create a custom variable—Business Analyst Web App | ArcGIS

Please note that other logical operators (OR, AND...) are not currently supported when creating custom variables.

You can access all the help and data documentation from the app by going here:

Fasil,

One more question please. Is it possible to create custom variables for adults 18+ for specific household incomes and other demographics:

Adults 18+ with household income less than $30,000

Adults 18+ with household income $30,000 - $49,900

Adults 18+ with household income $50,000 - $74,900

Adults 18+ with household income $75,000 - $99,900

Adults 18+ with household income $100,000+

Other demos for Adults 18+:

Households

Average Size Households

Median Age

Median household income

Median Home Value

Thank you!

Hi Robin,

As you might have already noticed, the variables you are looking for are not provided with 18+ ranges. For example, the Income by Age variables are available with the following age and household income ranges:

So it's not possible to create custom variables for just 18+ using those specific categories. You can only combine these variables as follows to create custom ranges. For example, I can create one that shows Household income less than $15,000 and Householder Age between 15 and 44:

But I understand your use case and I will forward your feedback to our data team.

Thanks,

Fasil

Fasil,

Thank you so much for clarifying the 18+ demos cannot be created using custom variables. This is very helpful.

I would like to second this request to be able to create custom variables using 18+ combined with other demographics.  This is a VERY common base used in a lot of custom and syndicated market research and not being able to pull these comparable custom variables greatly reduces the utility of the Business Analyst.
