We are heading back to San Diego this summer July 15 -18 for the Esri User Conference!  This year, there are more than 600 technical sessions, demo theaters, user presentations and special interest group meetings. The theme this year is “GIS - Uniting Our World” and Esri is focusing on using the common language of geography to build inclusivity and collaboration, approach challenges holistically, and empower individuals and organizations to make a difference in the world. The topic of digital accessibility is important in this effort and there are 6 sessions for attendees to learn about the various aspects of digital accessibility in ArcGIS.

In these sessions, attendees will learn about the latest features to support accessibility in Esri products such as ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and a variety of ArcGIS apps. The sessions will include information about digital accessibility, information on implementing accessibility features, and recommendations to improving accessibility in your published content.

Shifting the Conversation on Accessible GIS and Disability Representation

Utilizing GIS, Philadelphia transformed how disability representation can leverage change for cities. With Esri’s high contrast base map released in 2023, the city was an early adopter and created one of the most accessible digital maps known to date. Through intentional collaboration with Esri, U.S. Access Board, GIS professionals, and residents with disabilities this map led to uncharted exploration in how to ensure equity and accessibility for GIS products and global user awareness. This project is transforming the conversation around disability representation in GIS and user accessibility.
