How to let the Length3D get in used with the shortest path analyst in ArcScene

Hi,

I have go throw the tips from helping center and build up a model builder for it.
(http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#//00470000005q000000)

And the problem is, if there's a vertical edge, it can not be solved.

I guess the tool gets the information from "Length" properties not the "Length3D".

How to let the Length3D get in used? or the I should change the method?

Here is some sample run.

It works in the same plane
[ATTACH=CONFIG]25156[/ATTACH]
[ATTACH=CONFIG]25157[/ATTACH]

but when it need to go across plane, it failed.
[ATTACH=CONFIG]25158[/ATTACH]
[ATTACH=CONFIG]25159[/ATTACH]
