3d Viewshed analysis factoring in earth curvature

Hi

I am running some viewshed analysis where I need to take into account the curvature of the earth. I note that there is a tick box option in the 3d Viewshed tool to select that option, however the box only becomes active when a raster with a z-projection is being used.

So, I've clipped my DEM and re-projected to use a z-raster, and only occasionally will the tick box become available (I can't determine any pattern to when and when not the curvature option is available).

The other issue I note is that with a raster, it is nearly impossible to determine if a vertical coordinate system is projected for the data (Right click > Properties will only show the xy coordinate system)

So, first question, is there an easy way to determine if a raster is has a projected vertical coord system? I would like to rule out the fact that I am inadvertantly using the incorrect dataset for my viewshed analysis before I start chasing down that problem.

Using ArcGIS10.0 SP2 with a metric xyz coord system by the way.
